Could anyone give me a 'Whimsical for Dummies' (ha ha) tutorial?
I know how to do the ones that are stacked directly on top of eachother, But i am curious how they are sometimes stacked to look like there are flowers or tissue popping out from under the cake - if you know what i mean. Thanks for any advice you can give! icon_rolleyes.gif

There is a tutorial on the home page. If that doesn't work for you try googling (is that a word?) it I found lots of information and pictures to work from.

Hope that helps!!

get colette peters book "cakes to dream on" from the library. she does hers different from how the tutorial on this site says to do them. her instructions aren't as thorough, but she has some great pics. and im pretty sure she has cakes that have the style you're looking for. (looks as though stuff is coming out from in between the layers)

You could PM the person who did that cake and ask for help. 99% of the time, they will answer. HTH icon_smile.gif

It looks to me like that one is done with straight cakes and the wedges. I bet they put their roses on toothpicks or something and pushed them into the dummy. Just my thinking

I'm not sure, but couldn't you just stick a piece of styro in-between the layers? Of course cut the styro to the right angle and make it smaller then the cake that is set on top? Then fill the gaps between to hide the styro. This way the cakes wouldn't have to be cut at an angle, just tilted at an angle. I'm not sure, just a thought...it might get off balance... Good luck, I'm curious how this works too..

That is a beautiful cake! I don't understand the concept of the wedges though.. wouldn't the whole thing slide? Could someone explain it for me?
Thanks!
