So who felt it? That was so weird! It was small, only 3.6, but was still weird to feel and hear it! The last time we had one in this area was 1986 and I was too young to remember, so this is a first for me. Thank goodness it wasn't big enough to cause any damage. I don't know how you guys in earthquake prone areas survive every day. My anxiety is bad enough without the worry of earthquakes. Yikes!
I kinda remember when there was a little earthquake in '86 in Ohio. They made a huge deal over it but I never felt it. I was only 10 at the time...
Yeah, I don't know how people can live in California where there are so many earthquakes! I'd be paranoid. Course, I was paranoid of tornadoes when I lived in Ohio too so I suppose that there's something dangerous wherever you go. Now I'm in Washington and I suppose there's always the volcano risk here too ![]()

Welcome to my world!
Ours 2 weeks ago was 4.2, just a little one. It does make you feel strange when the earth moves though, doesn't it? Funny thing is I swore I was feeling a quake this morning when I woke up but there has been nothing on the news so I must have been dreaming.
People think we have an earthquake in California every day. Actually we may, but they are so small no one feels them. We have not had a destructive earthquake in Northern California since 1989 and that was the strongest one since the great San Francisco earthquake in 1906. Few and far between, the thing is there is still no way of predicitng them or the intensity. But you guys know every year you are going to have a tornado or a hurricane, that would scare me even more. And Seattle has had some pretty good quakes too.
See, I'm one of those people that thing earthquakes happen more often in California.
I can barely remember the last time a tornado came through this part of Ohio. *knock on wood* It had to have been in the 80s also because I barely remember that either. I just remember being home with my two older sisters and one of their friends, and running downstairs to the basement with the dog, a few blankets, and a little radio. LOL! I was even too young to be scared really. Lately, we have had more problems with flooding in my neck of the woods than anything else. We are up on the hill, but about 2 years ago I was on my way home from work at 1 a.m. and discovered, as I was driving through the valley, that all of the roads were closed over the river because of high water. There were National Guardsman at every intersection. I just lived over the bridges and one wasn't flooded yet, but I couldn't convince him to let me go over. I was tired, scared, and on top of that, the power was out everywhere because of the flooding and storms. I couldn't see the street signs to see where I was supposed to go! I finally managed to find my way home, but I was crying and praying the whole way home! LOL! Sure, it's funny now!
WOW! Was the earthquake in NE Ohio? I didn't hear anything about it down here in Columbus! I'll have to ask my parents (who live in Kent) if they felt it!!
I feel really stupid but,
I had no idea there were earthquakes in Ohio!! That would be really scary! But like Shirley said, tornadoes are scary but I'm just used to those. ![]()
OMG ... they just talked about the earthquake on the news!! It happened in Portage County ... where my parents live! Crazy!!!
In Texas we haven't had too many earthquakes (that I know of) but we do have a major faultline pretty much through the middle of the state, so if we have one it will probably be bad news!
I also was not aware of earthquakes occurring in Ohio!
Looks like no matter where you live or where you go there is the possibility of mother nature wreaking havoc of some sort. What is that commercial line "Don't Mess With Mother Nature!"
Hope you all in Ohio are doing okay. Janice
I'm in summit, right next door to portage. I did see that there were reports in Kent because the epicenter was in Ravenna!
Oh we are fine, just a little one, but it was so neat to feel and hear! There was a lady on the news in a few towns over that has a crack through her backyard. So not news compared to the damage that other earthquakes cause, but that's news around here since we don't get big ones. We are so lame. LOL!
I talked to my parents today, and they did feel the earthquake! They said that their golden retriever started barking immediately, and my dad said that his first instinct was that a bomb had gone off!! ![]()
I distinctly remember the earthquake in 1986! I was 10 years old and in 5th grade, and we were outside on the playground when it happened! I remember it like it was yesterday. Can't believe that was 21 years ago!!!! ![]()
