I was writing to beg for help and decided to re-read the recipe when I discovered my error....

In order to be fully prepared for my first FBCT, I've been reading everything I could get my hands on for 2 weeks.

I got my kitchen all cleaned up....turned on my ipod and set out to make a fbct. I had my picture taped down and squirrelycakes recipe printed.... instead of 2 cups of sugar, I read the recipe to say 2 lbs.....hence the dork statement..... icon_eek.gif

It looked like brown betty topping and not icing. I added water, which made the consistency better.....but when I added the color to a small amount, it seemed to seperate and looked just horrible.

I was just practicing and went ahead and piped in the the color, froze the transfer and flipped it over onto a cutting board. It was not as bad as I'd expected and I could really see the detail in the picture, but I'm just floored that I missed such a critical detail. icon_redface.gif

I'll try again later this week to make the transfer....with the appropriate amount of sugar this time. icon_cry.gif

You are NOT a dork!! We all do things like this sometimes! I once got halfway through an FBCT for my work (included our company name) and realized I hadn't reversed the pic and was doing the whole thing backwards!

Don't feel bad. We all have our days... I made a double batch of color flow yesterday and instead of adding 1/2 cup of water, I added a full cup. I thought it looked kind of runny - luckily I had bought extra powdered sugar and had enough color flow mix to fix my mistake.
