how far in advance do i decorate a cake? i have a cake due for sat nite 6pm i know to bake it the nite before (i dont want to freeze it) but if i use colored frostings for roses and or borders will it run on white frosting? and if i have had made roses and froze them, can i put them on the cake? ![]()
I do not freeze buttercream roses. I jsut make them and let them sit out in a covered box.
You can make the cake the night before, and frost the day of or realy the day before. I completely decoratred the golf bag cake I made last week on Thursday night, and they did not eat it until Friday evening. They said it was wonderful....and there was no bleeding of colors.
Are you planning on refrigerating the decorated cake? that might cause some color bleed.
My mother made cakes for about 30years and she almost always froze the roses for orders (easier to handle).....without any problems
so freezing the roses makes them less liable to break? They don't have condensation or anything after they thaw?
THanks
Julia
They will still break, but just (for me....and mom of course) easier to handle this way.....especially if you are making a large quantity
