Hello To Everyone. This is my first time trying out the Forum section. So thank you in advance if any one could help me.
I have had a request if I could bake a cake shaped like a chefs' hat ![]()
I haven't see an actual cake made in this fashoin. Would any one have any suggestions?
thank you, Vickie in Virginia
My friend did it last year! No photos to show you, but she torted three 8" cakes on thin cakeboards, stacked it with dowels between the tiers, drove a sharp dowel down the middle, froze it for a couple of hours, crumbcoated it in IMBC, froze it again for a few minutes, then used a big tip like Wilton #48 (except it was about 1.5" across) to pipe long stripes up it.
One big hint though...since it is semi-frozen, you can actually turn it on it's side to pipe these long strips! Keep re-freezing and turning to a new section to pipe more before it thaws.
It looked like this type of chef's hat in the end...
THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT SUGGESTIONS. THIS HAS BEEN A GREAT HELP THANKS TO ALL OF YOU ![]()
