I bought the Wilton student kit for the second class...and when I took out my pans (the oval ones) I noticed that some of the 'glue' that was used to hold the box together had gotten on to one of the pans itself at the bottom. I tried scraping it off, but I'm afraid of ruining the pan and it doesn't seem to want to wash off either. Any ideas how I might get it off or will it be ok to use it in the oven without setting the house on fire?...LOL

Did you try nail polish remover? I don't know if that will ruin the finish of the pan. You could also try soaking it in really hot water for a while to melt it and scrub it with dish soap. HTH

I used peanut butter to get it off of mine...It also works on sticky stuff from stickers, tape, price tags, etc.

Peanut butter??? Well, who'd a thought...LOL. I'll give it a try and try the nail polish remover if the peanut butter doesn't help...

Anyone else?

Different glues need different solvents, but there is a product called "Goo Gone" that will dissolve almost any residue. That nasty residue is one of my pet peeves, so I keep several bottles of Goo Gone around tha house. Rubbing alcohol will work on some, vinegar on others, acetone (nail polish remover) on others. Acetone can cause a permanent haze on some plastics, so be careful. The metal cake pan will be fine with anything. Even using baking soda on a barely damp cloth will scrub off some of the goop.

Thank you Dawn2467...The PB worked!!!!!!!!! I put it on and then let it sit for a few minutes, then when I washed it off, I just had to scrape it with my fingernail. Now I don't have to worry about putting the pan in the oven....

Lighter fluid on a paper towel, just wet the towel, lay it over the glue and let it set for a few minutes. Then use the moistened towel to rub the residue off. Wash the pan with soap and water and rinse.
