Hello! I just got 3 orders for Marble cake...2 cars and something with ballerina slippers. My question is..i usually use box mixes and doctor it up with the cake mix extender from this site (http://www.cakecentral.com/cake_recipe-1977-0-Cake-Mix-extender.html) .
I use the extender on Yellow Cake mixes. Can i use this extender on Marble cake mix also? Or is the best thing to do is just use the plain ole marble box cake mix?
I hope this make sense hehee....
thanks so much for any advice!

I did a marble cake this weekend. I thought I had a marble cake mix in my pantry, but realized at the last minute that I didn't. I ended up using the cake extender in a yellow mix. I didn't use the extender in a chocolate mix and swirled it in. It turned out great. Hope this helps.

I also had a marble cake request recently. I had a DH marble mix on hand and it turned out pretty good with a few alterations. I think that I will try the yellow cake doc. recipe and mix some choc. in about 1cup of the batter next time. I was going to make a yellow cake and a choc. cake, but I was afraid that the cake would have 2 different consistencies.
Good luck.

I made a marble cake last week. I used 1/2 recipes of the WASC recipe for both yellow and chocolate and swirled them together. So moist and yummy!

I make lots of marble cakes and didn't even realize there was "marble cake mix". I use yellow or white, whatever is requested, then swirl the chocolate. I probably use about 2 cups chocolate batter in a half sheet size.

I made a marble cake this weekend. I took the advice of a fellow CC'er. I used the yellow cake extender. I poured about 2/3 into the pan, then took the remaining added cocoa, then poured that on top of yellow already in pan and swirled w/ a butter knife. Worked wonderfully!

ok, i love the idea of just mixing in the chocolate cake. Now does anyone have problems when you bake it? like does the chocolate take longer to cook or anything like that?

thanks for the great ideas!

No, in factr it baked just as normal. At first I was afraid it didn't come out right because it looked as though all the choc had gravitated to the center of each cake, but once I cit the top potion of the cake off, you could see all the beautiful swirling!

I always use a scratch recipe for the yellow and swirl the chocolate mix (using and extra egg and puding) and at least for me works like a charm... staring doing this one day I run out of cacao powder to make chocolate fron scratch.. so my marble cake is an hibrid... icon_biggrin.gif
