i am making a cake this week and i want to put that quilted look on my fondant with the wilton cutter/embosser. do i do it before the fondant is on the cake, when its rolled flat, or do i do it after the fondant is on the cake? its a pillow cake, so i thought it might be tough to get the pattern on the bottom side if i wait until the fondant is already on the cake.

I haven't actually done that yet, but I would think you would do it while it was flat... that way you could make sure the lines are straight and if you mess up, you can just start over and it won't mess up your cake...
