Below is a link to the cake I did for my son's 4th b-day yesterday. It is a 14 ich base half chocolate half WASC w/ fresh strawberries between the layers. B/C icing w/ mmf accents. The car is made from the 3-D durable cake recipe on this website and is covered in mmf fondant with mmf and b/c accents. According to Wilton's website, the 14 inch square feeds about 85 people and I'm guessing the car feeds about 15-20. It took me about 1 1/2 -2 days to make this cake. Here's my question:

1) How much would you charge for this cake as shown?
2) How much would you charge for the car cake only?

Thanks,
Rhonda

that is great. In my area I would not sell that for less than $100. That is a lot of work and beautiful.

So then you would charge about $1.00 per slice? This fed about 100-110 people.

On average I charge 2.50 to 3.00 per serving. With the work involved I would keep it in that range. Nice job!

Thanks, that's what I was thinking ,too. About $200 plus for the whole thing. What about the car only, what would you charge? It feeds about 15-20.

I would do a minimum of 3 dollars per serving. I know how time consuming that can be. I did a McQueen cake too.

Did you sculpt the car? If so, I would charge $4.50 per serving = $90

For the entire cake - $245

Your cake loks great! So cute. I bet your son loved it and all his friends would want one too. I'm sure you'll be getting orders from this one. I do love your deep red and black. Very striking.

I guess you could say I sorta kinda sculpted it. It was actually quite simple following the tutorial from the above-referenced link. I used two oval cakes, sliced off the edges andf placed them on top for the roof. The "sculpting" took less than 10 minutes!
