The one thing that stands out in my mind is a beehive shaped cake with wired gumpaste bees. And I'd probably fill it with a honey flavored buttercream.

Just a thought...

Why did they choose bees? Hmmm, are they looking for something realistic or whimsical?

How about something more stylized? My first idea is out of royal. What color is the wedding? Cake?

I guess I need to know a little more about it. But this could be a really fun challenge.

These are from the Four Seasons in Las Vegas. You could expand on this idea to create a themed cake...

I found a few on different websites that might give you ideas

The third one doesn't have any bees on it, but I thought you could add a few in the flowers around the cake

Edited to add the owners of these cakes:

1st cake: www.holisticforgeworks.com
2nd cake: wedding cakes created by Kelley Farrell-owner of Iced Dreams in Denver, CO
3rd cake: www.herecomestheguide.com

Kinda would have to go whimsical with that.

I've seen 2 bee hive cakes in books that look very similar to one posted on this site. Maybe you could make a larger version of these, or a cake covered in flowers (maybe the same kind as the bride will be carrying) with little bees on wire sticking out of it.

You could use the contoured round pans gradually decreasing in size, stacked, to resemble a bee hive in XXL format. Then add pretty flowers and bees. How fun!

Here are some pics from a google search:

I immediately thought of this cake, when you said "bee's". I love this babyshower cake from Just Fab. Pastries, you could modify the coloring and design to whatever you want. Darling cake!
