Ugh!! I Baked An Order Early And Now The Ordered Is Changed!

I had an order for 5 Valentine Heart Cakes. I decided to bake them early and put them in the freezer. Now I spoke to my customer and she has decided that she wants to change her order to 2 Two Layer Cakes. Ugh!!! Maybe it's not such a good idea for me to try to get ahead of the game.

Do you have a 'policy' agreement when taking orders? I usually require 48 hour advance notice if there are any changes to an order...That might help next time...

Thanks, I'll have to remember that.
I had the same thing happen to me only this person never picked her order up...thank goodness I was able to sell it to someone else.
Maybe you can use them to decorate for the contest ![]()
Oh How frustrating! I hate it when that happens! I am really considereing a Policy Agreement myself, because this has happened to me before also, but it was a last minute Color Scheme change, and I had already made all the flowers! Luckily, my next customer didn't care about the colors so I was able to use them anyway.
On the brighter side, the chances of you using Heart shaped cakes for someone else are pretty good this close to Valentines day!
uugghh!! that has to bite!.. BUT look at the bright side.. you can always use those other 2 heart cakes and make something for the CC Valentines Contest.. You cakes are beautiful.. Yeah and everyone else is right, it's so close to Valentines Day I'm sure someone will order one or 2 heart shaped cakes.. Good Luck!
I don't have policy agreements/contracts unless it's a wedding cake. I've had last minute order changes and I really don't mind. I consider the original cake a "bonus" cake--a bonus for me because I can keep it in the freezer for when I need to whip up something super quick, or I can gift it and bless someone with a surprise treat.

That's exactly what I was going to do. ![]()
