Which extender recipe did you use??? I used one that added some flour and sugar and water and it baked fine.

Maybe someone else will know.

However...I did notice that my cake was more moist...maybe that is why it cracked. icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm a newbie, and I'm wondering what's the cake mix extender?

Thanks

I used the one titled "cake mix extender" in the recipes. It called for flour sugar yogart or sour cream and an extra egg.

joesmom583, The cake mix extender is a recipe that alot of people reccomend its supposed to make your box cake mix cake taste more like a cake from scratch and also make it more dense and easier to frost. If you look it up in the recipes that could give you a better explanation than I do.

Anyone else know why it might have cracked?

I tried the cake extender from this site and it bake up fine, however I did not use yogart and I did lower the baking temp to 325 degrees and it took a little longer to bake, and of course making sure your flour measurement is exact, so maybe try sifting before you measure. I think there is more than one extender recipes on this site. Hope this helps.

I use the cake mix extender all of the time. I use sourcream and I have never had a problem with a cake cracking. I think it's great.
