Hi! I have a wedding cake to do and I was wondering if anyone would have an idea of how much fondant to use.
The sizes of the cakes are (and the guide I have says)
4" <500g
6" 500g
9" 1250g
12" 2000g
total 4250

I have posted a picture of the cake below. As you can see it is very plain, so I was also wondering if I will need to put two layers of fondant on each tier? (ie a fruit cake would have almond and then fondant to make it smooth)
Any ideas would be fanastic. Thank you, Mel

You shouldn't need 2 layers. 1 layer should be finejust stick it down with apricot glaze or a thin layer of buttercream.

The quantities you have do look about right

1 layer is fine...

take the size of the cake across and the height of the cake x 2

Say the cake is 4" and 2" high, you'll need at least 8" (4" + 2" + 2") etc.

Thanks to you both, it is always nice to check these things. I am doing this wedding cake at cost, so i don't want to end out of pocket.
