Hello...I am very interested in learning how to get a uniform design on my rolled fondant. Sort of like diamonds (maybe more like a tuck and roll effect). I've found that the specialty rollers for fondant are very pricey and are limited to one design. I have seen this effect on some pics in the site. Any great ideas to help?
Thanks! icon_smile.gif

what I use is not a roller but a flat piece that I bought (where I can't remember - Sorry but there are many sites to buy supplies) I only paid about 5.00 for it and it works pretty good.

I bought a diamond shaped impression mat online. Impression mats are cheap and easy to use. I can't recall the site I found it on but do a google search for impression mats. Good luck!

Impression mats are a great way to get a nice pattern on fondant or crusted buttercream. Here's a link to some of my favorite ones from CakesbySam....

I used a bamboo skewer to make my diamond impressions. It worked great and gave a pillowy effect.

Hi Tiggy,

Could you provide the link you are talking about, I did a quick search in sugarcraft and couldn't find anything. Do you mean that the mat's themselves are of poor quality?

Thank you! icon_smile.gif

she means the link posted on this thread by novembercakes. i noticed that too. the bbb says they've processed 23 complaints, most having to do with billing and customer service.

Hey Lazy Susan,
Your diamond impression cake is so awesome! I guess you marked the lines out before you used the skewer impressions?
By the way, your choc. cakes look so delicious, esp. the German Choc. I don't suppose that you would share your recipe for the cake & icing?? If you don't mind sharing, could you pm me the recipe?
Thanks!

I'm very curious: How was the BBB able to highjack their web site? Shouldn't the link take you to Sugarcraft?

I was wondering that myself but everytime I've clicked on a link for them the last few days that's where it takes me.

i think it must be a problem with the link itself. when i google sugarcraft, i can go to sugarcraft.com and it takes me to the correct site.

i know from personal experience that they will bill your cc for items you never received. at least that is what they did for me. then banned me when i insisted that she call the bank and explained that it was never shipped.

i have purchased from cake by sams several times and never had a problem. plus it didn't take a long time to get my order.

I know there have been other threads about them and bad service. If you do a search on sugarcraft you should be able to find them.

No I didn't mark any lines. I just eye-balled it. But if you need a guide, you can use a triangle. You should be able to find one at any store in the office supplies or school supplies.
Thank you for the compliment on my cakes. I'll PM you the recipes.

I bought some impression mats from Michaels in their clay section. Crayola has a whole bunch, I don't know if they have diamonds, but they did have bricks, cobble stone, etc...The only drawback is they are small, about 4X6, but the great thing is you can get for 40% off with a coupon.

My problem with Sugarcraft is the price of their shipping and handling!!!!! It is just out of control. I could drive there (1-1/2 hrs away) for less in gas money! Yikes!!!

Try checking out www.intotheoven.com if they don't have it here on CC. I know this site is run/owned by another CC'er. They shipped to me within a couple of hours of placing my order and it got to me in less time than any other supplier thus far.
