How do I attach rkt to my cake? I'm making an Elmo cake and his body is an 8 in round with a wondermold on top of that. I have arms out of rkt and I don't know how to attach them to my cake. I will then pipe red fur on him with the grass tip. Someone PLEEEEAAAASSSSEEEE help!!!

I would probably use wooden skewers or thin dowel rods. I have, in a pinch, used uncooked thick spaghetti (not angel hair or the thinner spaghetti), but I wouldn't trust that to stay stable for a long time, like days.

Skewers or the thin dowels like redpanda suggested and you can use melted candy melts to help glue the skewers in place and add some stability. That's what I did with gold tooth in my pics. I used candy melts to act as mortar to keep the rkt together and help it set up better.

Is it ok to put them in after the treats are dry or do I need to like wrap them around the skewers and then let them dry?? Thanks so much guys for taking time to answer. I'm stressin a little...... icon_smile.gif

I would probably put them in when it is starting to set up. When I did the tooth it was hard to keep them on the dowels. I even used a small ball of fondant as a base at the top of the dowel to build the rkt up from there.

I used rkt to form figures that I covered in fondant for my daughter's bday party last month. Definitely put in your toothpicks or skewers or whatever as the rkt are setting up! thumbs_up.gif
