How Much Batter - Stacking Help - And Just Help In General

I just bought a 10" round cake pan & an 8" round. It says 6 c batter for the 10" & 3 c batter for the 8". That's what the directions say that came with the pans. It also says a cake mix makes approx. 4-6 c batter. So I need to make two cake mixes? Would you do it the way the pan directions say?
I want to put the 10" on bottom, then the 8" & then bake a cake in a small round bowl & put on top. The top will be a baseball. Do you think this will work? I've used the small bowl to make a baseball before, so I'm confindent about it, just not so much about the rest of it. (I have a baseball cake in my photos, I want to make the baseball the same) The only stacking I've ever done is a regular 2-layer cake. I bought some 8" cake boards, should I put one of those in there?
Any suggestions, tips will be greatly appreciated. I need this for Sunday evening. But I'm helping out with dinner so it really needs to be done by noon Sunday. Should I make icing today & then bake & decorate tomorrow? WWYD? I always do it all in the same day & it's always such an ordeal with the icing & the mixing colors & the MESS!
Yes, use the info that came with the cake pans for the batter amount.
But don't use all of the batter from two cake mixes, just the amount called for.

A lot of members just add a small box of instant pudding and an extra egg per box mix.

Bake the cakes as soon as you can today...
I would make the icing, first thing in the morning, then torte and fill...put it in the fridge for little while so you won't have a slippy slidy cake...then ice the cake.
Timewise, this should be fine if you get up early.
I have used 1 cake mix for my 10" x 2" pan and it works fine...make 2 of them if you want a double layer...I usually cut each of them so in the end..4 layers of cake/3 fillings
8" x 2"...you can use 1/2 cake mix for each pan...
For the round bowl on top, I imagine it wouldn't take a full cake mix, so use what you have to for that and then make some cupcakes for yourself!

One thing I did a while back is to take a large 2 quart measuring pitcher and fill it with water and go through all my pans by pouring water in them to the point where I would fill them with batter, then measure how much water was in them. I made notes on that. Then as I made my various cake recipes I measured how much batter each one made and took notes on that. Now I know how much batter it takes for all my pans which gives me no waste at all. You might want to go through and do that with your pans and recipes.
