OK i need some help. I have been making cakes for about six months and have always delivered them myself and included that in the price. Now to make a long story short a local bakery found aout about me and he wants me to work for him. I told him I would work with him, not for him. Anyway he got a phone call for a 3 teir baby shower cake in fondant. He doesn't have anyone there that knows how to work with it so he called me. I am baking at his place, using his stuff, obviously he wants a cut. How much do i give him? also the lady picking up the cake want is for a saturday, we don't work on Saturday so it needs to be frinday. Do I have her pick it up? I mean its 3 teirs!!! do i deliver it? how much should i add then if i have to give him a cut and deliver it. (I usually charge around $3 per person for a teired fondant cake).
Thanks for the help.

If the cake is being sold under his business name, then he should be the one to worry about delivering it, not you.

As far as how much of a cut you should give him, you should have established that before you took the job. Legally, because you had no agreement and you are doing the work on his property, he only has to pay you an hourly wage.

I agree- I think he or one of the employees should be delivering the cake. Not you. Also, I agree that you should have some kind of agreement in writing so that you don't wind up doing all the work for little $. Didn't he discuss $ when he asked you to bake for him?

I can't help with this one, sorry, but if you're legal you might want to have him refer people TO you in future - giving him a referral fee of course.
