Are there any types of flowers that I can make using whipped icing? I am making a cake and got a shell border on it and happy birthday but it needs something else. I hate a boring cake. Any suggestions? This is my first time using whipped icing and let me tell you.....I really don't enjoy it! LOL

i am not sure what kind of whipped icing u are uding. but at my work, we use RICH'S BETTERCREME. and i love to make flowers out of it! you can make gigiant sized roses that hold up and do not flop! basically, any kind of flower u can make with buttercream, you can also make with the whipped icing. hibicus flowers turn out very nice with the whipped. also so do orchids. good luck. you can check out rich's website to get more info on how to make the flowers too. they have suggestions also.

I have put large rosettes around the top and one in the middle and put a cherry or strawberry in the center of each rosette.

I used whipped icing (Rich's) for this cake. The red roses are RI, but the rest is Rich's.
