Do These Cakes Look Okay?

I did these two cakes for my DH's work. There is just something about them that I don't like, well besides my lettering. I have a few more hours I could add something to them if I need to. Any suggestions? I was thinking I wanted to keep them simple so as not to detract from the emblems and I didn't want to make them girly because they are for an older man. Ideas anyone?

sorry everyone, I cannot seem to attach the pics. I am not a computer wiz! DH will be home soon and he can help me or just look in the gallery, they are in there. They are the two Hagie cakes. Should still be on the first page. Thanks! Anna

I commented on the cakes in the gallery...but I think you did a great job!!! I dont know why you didnt like the lettering, its much better than i can do.

I think they look fine! The only thing I might suggest is to add a little color to the borders.

I think they look fine! Great FBCT by the way. I'm with Jen, I think I woiuld have done the border with a color that matched the transfer.

You cakes look great! Nice and smooth, even borders, great FBCT and the handwriting is far better than mine. Don't be too hard on yourself 'cuz you did a great job! thumbs_up.gif

I added my comment to the red/white cake picture, but for both cakes, you could overpipe the borders with colors to brighten them up a bit. But they're both very nice as they are. I think you did great job.
We are soooo hard on ourselves, aren't we??

I agree I probably should have put some colors in the border. I guess I was thinking that I wanted to make it look as simple as possible. But now I think it would have made the transfers pop more. SIGH. I was so nervous about these cakes. Live and learn. I appreciate all of your kind words and your ideas! Thanks so much! Anna

Check your ampersand - it may be backwards. I thought the E shape should be open on the right, not the left. I could be wrong.

Well, I talked DH into doing some color on the bottom border. I love it! It really added to the cakes! Thanks so much for your advice! I feel much better about these cakes now. Wish I could do the lettering over but that ship has sailed! Oh well. Thanks again for everyone's kind words and advice!!
