You do have to order over the phone but they are so great to deal with and even will offer advice on the flavorings if you need any. icon_smile.gif

Suzie, I'm sorry for all my questions but what brand do they have there? Or is it their own brand? Thanks

It is there own brand of flavoring and don't apologize for all the questions. It is the only way to learn !!

I love the smell also...I wonder if it could be made into a perfume? hehe

I seem to be in the minority...but I can't stand Creme Bouquet! It tastes artificial to me. I thought it made my icing taste like it came from a grocery store bakery (not what I'm going for!)

Anyone else not like it?

I do like a little citrusy taste in my icing, but I just add a little orange or lemon extract in addition to the vanilla.

BTW--I don't fault anyone else for liking, CB. I just wondered if I'm the odd one out. icon_smile.gif

I've never tried it, and to be honest, I'm a little afraid to. I'm just not a big fan of citrus in my buttercream. Do you think I would still like this?? I don't know maybe I should just try it since everyone else seems to love it.

Just buy a small bottle of it and at least try it. It does not add a citrus flavor to the cakes/frostings. The flavor it does add is nearly impossible to describe. Everyone, and I mean everyone, loves my cakes and icing with creme bouquet. I used to use nothing but Butavan but they quit making it so I tried the creme bouquet. Now they are making Butavan again so I'll get some of it in my pantry again too. These are two flavors everyone should at least try once.
My husband never has been an icing eater and always scapes it off his cake but he loves the Creme Bouquet icing and always eats it! The Butavan I only put in the cake, not in the icing. Creme Bouquet I put in both frosting and icing.

This sounds like it could be the answer to what I've been searching for!! I posted awhile back saying I had tasted a delicious buttercream with a certain flavor and was wondering what it could be, but didn't get much response, but now I am anxious to try the CB 'cause it sounds like it might be it! icon_biggrin.gif

Teecakes-You talked me into it trying it! I'm putting in a few orders this week for some cake tools I've been wanting and I'm going to order some and maybe even try the butavan. I'll let you know how it goes..thanks for the advice!

Do try them both if you can. There is nothing like a blueberry muffin with a tablespoon of Butavan added to the mix! Butavan is an OLD bakery secret and it is wonderful! Wouldn't want to be without either one now and will be anxious to hear back from you after you have tried them both! thumbs_up.gif

I bought a bottle in August when I took my first cake decorating class because the instructor raved about it. My first impression was that I liked the Almond flavor better, but after reading all the posts on this thread, I guess I should give it another try since I already have some. I hope it is still ok.

I just tried the creme bouquet yesterday in my buttercream and my MMF and I didn't care for the taste of it. It seemed a little too lemony, but then again I'm not a big lemon fan so I'm sure other people would like it.

If a recipe calls for 2 tsp of flavoring, any suggestions on how much creme bouquet to use and how much of other flavorings to use?

When my recipes call for 2 tsp of flavoring I use 1 tsp of Creme Bouquet for part of it. I never use it all by itself but rather to enhance the other flavors in it. I love it in my buttercreme as do the people I do cakes for !

Suzie757 - So what do you use for the remaining 1 tsp of flavoring?

Puzzlegut,
I usually just use vanilla for the other 1 tsp. of flavoring or what ever other flavoring is being used.

I just used creme bouquet in my mmf tonight, and YUM-O!!!!! icon_smile.gif I just used a little bit--maybe 1 tsp for one batch of mmf--but I really like the way it tastes! I already add about tsp lemon extract to my mmf to cut the sweetness, and about half a tsp of vanilla for the flavor, but the creme bouquet added a nice fresh flavor. Yum!

So I bought some Creme Bouquet, CK brand and I didn't like it at all!! The smell made me sick! But then...I was just at my local cake supply shop and I saw the Magic Line brand so I took a whiff...OMG it smelled soooo good. I bought it and I LOVE it!!!! I couldn't believe what a difference there is between those 2 brands. I made a cake for my mom and she said that was the best cake I ever made! So now I'm hooked, on Magic Line brand though.

Anyone else try it yet??

Ok so the creme bouquet is a lemony flavor you use 1/2 and 1/2 with like vanilla in either cakes or icing but.....Is BUTAVAN a butter vanilla combo? I have both and havent decided when to use the butavan? How much in a cake lets say WASC cake?

I wonder where you can get the magic line brand. I have the CK brand and I like it, but I wouldn't mind comparing the two.
