I have seen a couple of pics on CC where people have made their own pearl accents. How do you do that? FOndant??? help please i have princess cake coming up and would love to add a few for accent
I've made them of both fondant and white chocolate candy clay. I prefer the latter, as it stays nice and soft. As for "how" - just roll 'em up and brush them with the powder. Some say just roll them in the powder, but I think they have a nicer sheen if they're brushed. Kind of "polishes" them.
Here is a link to Earlene Moore's site. This is how I learned to do them

If it doesn't work got to http://www.earlenescakes.com and there is a link for making edible pearls.
Do you have luster dust or pearl dust? That makes them look really pretty.
Good Luck!!
wow thanks so much for the link that is exactly what i needed!
thanks for sharing the link I am going to try these myself ![]()
I just roll out my white fondant, cut out a bazillion little circles using the large end of a tip, and start balling them up..... I put some Super Pearl in a plastic baggie, and throw the "balls" in there too..... shake them up a few times, and they are all pearlized and ready to go when I need them....... LOTS cheaper than buying them !
Thank you so much for the info... I'm a newbie and have learned so much in the last month. Addicted to CC. Love it.
I was just at my local cake supply store yesterday and was looking at the pearls to buy... went back on the shelve really quick after seeing the price. Thought I'd come on CC and knew I would find something - and that would be less expensive.
