I am donating a cake to an auction to benifit the American Cancer Society, and have come up blank on ideas. I can do anything which means I can't decide. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks Donna

Did you want to keep it cancer-related or do you want to go totally creative and have nothing to do with cancer?

You could carve a ribbon. I think the color would be yellow? Or you could do a sheet cake with a FBCT of the American Cancer Society logo.
I'm donating some ribbon cookies to the Relay for Life in my area. I'm doing ribbons in purple (the color they use for Relay for Life), pink (for breast cancer) and teal (for ovarian & uterian cancer.)

How big are we talking? That helps with thoughts on design. And also what's your style like? Is this a black tie auction/dinner affair or what kind of event?

When I do cakes for such events, there is usually a theme aside from the actual purpose. If not, I would do something very elegant and maybe some cookie bouquets with their logo. I'm sure you will get more help with this one.
Good luck and so glad that your doing donations for such important causes. Whatever you come up with, you can feel proud and satisfied that you are helping in some way.
I love doing fundraising stuff like this. I think it's my favorite at least it's the most satisfying for me personally.

Since the purchaser may be someone who is just there to support the organization - and maybe not a staffer or key volunteer for the organization - I'd just make it pretty so it would have general appeal...not have anything about cancer on it at all. I don't think I'd bid on a "cancer cake." One covered in gorgeous gumpaste roses or something done in a really "wow" fondant design...yeah.

I love how the roses look so delicate! How did you get that teal color?
