I need a little push. I'll be making a cake for an upcoming family party. An idea is formulating in my head about what I want to do, but I'd love some help with cake flavor combinations. I'm planning 2 tiers, and I thought I could cover all tastes by making the larger tier chocolate of some kind, and the smaller tier white or yellow of some kind. But then I'm stumped as to what fillings to use with each, and a frosting that would compliment both. Since I was thinking of coloring the frosting to match the decorations, so that leaves out chocolate frosting. I don't have time to make any practice cakes, so I need some tried and true ideas.
Thanks all!
i think to use chocolate moose with both white and chocolate cake. Rasperry filling is always good too.
You could use a chocolate hazelnut filling (Nutella mixed with buttercream) and then use hazelnut creamer (sugar free) in your buttercream icing. I did that with my Pastor Appreciation Cake. The icing was TO DIE FOR! and no problems with decorating. I LOVE Nutella and will make any excuse to use it! LOLL

Bethola.......my friend gave me that recipe years ago for dipping fruit in. Then I thought...why not filling?? I saw that it's also listed in the CC recipe sectionl. You will die and go to heaven, then swear off sex because this is soooo much better! (Just kidding!!! [maybe] ).
