I was getting ready to purchase one of the projecta scopes and stand and I was wandering if anyone had one and how well they worked putting images on cakes? I really can't afford one of the nicer ones by KopyKake. Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Oh yeah where is the best and chepest place to purchase one?

Thanks

I read somewhere a while back that the projecta scope worked good but there was no way to make the scope unit stand on end so it will project DOWN onto the cake. From what I understand those projectors are made to project on a wall like a over head projector but sit on a desk or flat stand etc...The person who wrote the thread bought hers at Michael's craftstore in the Art section and used the 40% coupon so It was a good deal!! I'm not sure it will work for what you want!!Try Ebay as the prices are much cheaper for projectors all the time!!

P.S.I love my Kopykake projector!! icon_biggrin.gif

I've no idea what one is, but it sounds like an overhead projector, so...

Try Michael's, in the Drawing section. They have several versions of the same kind of thing, starting at about $20 for a portable one that could easily be mounted to project downward onto a cake. With some imagination.

Basically, a light source, a mirror and a plastic "lens".

I bought a Projecta Scope and the stand that suspends it upside down, thinking that it would work for the cakes...nope! It won't focus small enough to use on a cake (at least I couldn't get it to do that), so it is still in it's box somewhere around here. As far as I'm concerned it was a waste of money!

I later bought a Kopyrite on eBay and really like it, except it sure goes through light bulbs! Janice

Snicker,

No!! It is sooo easy!!! I just find an image and make sure it is not to large as it has to fit in the projectore door.It shines down on the cake and I trace it with a toothepick and viola!!!

Actually, with the Kopyrite projector, I usually just decorate right on the cake, saves some time and steps to be able to do that! Janice
