After several months of decorating cakes I have not tasted my own cake, until TODAY! And boy was it yummy! I am quite pleased with myself for the outcome of the cake itself. Just wonder if I am the only one that never taste the finished product? Or am I in this boat all alone?
I guess I almost always taste my cake and frosting both as I can't resist. My problem is wanting to eat all the batter--I'm addicted! I made an amaretto cake last night to send to someone's home as they had a death in the family. It smelled so good and the batter tasted great. Took it out of the oven, poked holes in it, and poured on the glaze. Waited 2 hours, as the recipe said, to take it out of the pan. Looked great and smelled great. Sat down to transfer the recipe to an index card (I had printed it off the computer several weeks ago). In reading it, I realized that I had put 1/2 C amaretto in the cake and it was suppose to have 2T.
No wonder the batter tasted great.
This is one time that I wished I had been able to taste the cake. Have worried all evening for fear someone might have gotten a buzz off my cake. I'm almost afraid to talk to them after the funeral tomorrow.
Thank Heavens I know they aren't teetotalers! ![]()
