I asked for a "Knock your socks off Chocolate Cake Recipe" and on the advice of a few CC members, I baked the Double Chocolate Layer Cake that is listed on Epicurious.com and on here as the Chocolate Layer Cake recipe submitted by tripletmom. I have to say that it is THE BEST chocolate cake I have ever had. I made 2 layers and 6 cupcake size heart shapes. While it was still warm I gave one of the cupcake sized hearts to my hubby and he loved it!!! Even after he went to sleep, he woke up for a few minutes and came in to the kitchen to get another one before going back to bed.

Thank you soooooooooooooo much!!!
I think hubby is going to be a little disappointed when he wakes up and finds that I have wrapped and frozen all the layers! LOL But I have to have something left to add the icing to when I make it.

Actually, what do y'all think about this? I was going to torte it and add a Chocolate Mousse filling and then ice it with a White Chocolate BC icing. What do ya think?

Woo hoo! I'm glad you liked it! Isn't it just soooooo good?

I have filled it with chocolate raspberry filling (Wow!), chocolate buttercream, (good but sweet) and also served with whipped cream on the side. All are good and bring out different nuances of the cake. The original recipe calls for it to be covered with ganache, hence the 'double' in the name.

Your idea for chocolate mousse sounds very good...heck, what doesn't go well with chocolate mousse? The white chocolate buttercream also sounds good....perhpas a little sweet but good nonetheless. Give it a shot and let us know what it's like! Hey, can I come over for a piece? icon_lol.gif

You sure can!!!! I'll be sure to post pics of it and give a detailed description of its taste! I actually have to make approximately 6 (maybe 7) of these cakes in the next couple weeks. I think i'll have the recipe down pat!

Where do I get this recipe. Can someone email it to me? Also, someone asked me for a sheet cake filled with chocolate mousse. Does anyone have a recipe for that?
Thanks
