If I am using the cake mix extender recipe from this site, and I am using two cake mixes, boxed, do I double the cake mix extender recipe, or just use it as written on here? Like, would I use eight ounces of sour cream for two boxed cake mixes, or sixteen ounces of sour cream for two boxed cake mixes? I know I am probably making this whole recipe a lot harder then it is ... but thats just me!
Use all the ingredients for each box. And the extender only once. Don't double it.
Honestly, you could do either. It depends on how much more cake you want. If you want two cake mixes plus the amount that two extenders would make, double it. BUT if you want two cake mixes plus the amount that one extender would make, only use the extender once. It's up to you!
And all three are right!
It does depend on how much you want to EXTEND the box mixes. If you just need alittle extra batter to give your cakes a little more height- just add one recipe of the extender. But if you need extra batter to fill larger pans for example, you can use one recipe of extender per each box mix.

My answer to that would be yes. I usually use 2 mixes and 1 extender for the ll x 15. If you used 2 extenders I think you would have extra. I think you could make the 6" and the sheet cake would still be tall enough.

Also to add a stupid question to thecakerator's question. Why use an extender at all why not just use another cake mix????? You have to remember I am a newbie!

I use 3 mixes for an 11 x 15 and it is a nice size tall cake. I think to fill that plus the six inch, definitely make two extenders-and that might not make the half sheet plus the 6" quite as tall as you like. You may want 3 mixes and two extenders. I guess you will look at it and let us know what happens!
