OK, all of my display cakes are finished for the bridal show Sun. I am going to make 3 sheet cakes and torte and fill two of them For tasting samples) I am going to do a simple white brides cake with my best BC. The other two are my issue.
I want two sho stoppers. I read someones post not toolong ago about an orange cake with fresh squeezed juice? I was thinking of this and a whipped creamy filling and my best all butter bc under a thin layer of satin ice..( shooting for a dreamsicle kinda taste). I cannot find their post on how they did the orange cake. I also am trying to come up with a great rich tasting chocolate and a really awesome filling/frosting combo. It seems that everyone has always ordered simple cake flavors I want something AWESOME...any ideas?
How about yellow cake layered with bavarian cream and chocoalte mousse? Kind of creating a boston cream pie taste?
Or maybe lemon cocunut cake with lemon curd filling? There is a great recipe for this cake in Toba Garretts book, she actually makes the cake with lemon curd added to the batter, it is so yummy!
I would just try replacing the liquid called for with orange juice and then maybe grate some orange zest into the batter for a coloration. That might work.
And I made some bc the other day with orange juice instead of the water or milk. Makes it a lovely ivory shade. Also used Lorann's "Pina Colada" oil too (just a drop) Tasted very good and wasn't "too" sweet either.
oo oo oo just thought of another combo. Coconut flavored cake with dark chocolate ganache either for filling or icing. Yummy like an almond joy or mounds candy bars.
"sometimes you feel like a nut....sometimes you don't"
Chocolate and raspberry is always popular. Actually strawberry has been popular with that too. That would be kind of cool. think of a cool name for it.. you know like chocolate dipped strawberries. I do whipped cream mixed with straberry preserves and sliced strawberries on top for a filling.
