I was so fortunate this past Saturday to get a web site and domain name for my birthday from my sister. I have it up, but still need to make some changes to it. My sisters fiance' has been helping me with it. He is a web designer, and he is trying to teach me to do this on my own. I wanted a site just so I wouldn't have to carry around the photos anymore. When ever I would go somewhere, a friend or family mamber would mention that I did cakes and would want to see them. So now, instead of pulling out the photo album (exagerating) I can just tell them the name of the site and they can browes til' their hearts content. Please have a look.

That is exactly what I've been thinking about too. I still actually carry pictures of my cakes around and it would be so much easier telling people a website. Are you willing to go into more detail on how you did this, did it cost anything, etc? I have absolutely NO CLUE when it comes to those things. TIA

I was fortunate enough to have my sisters fiance who does web design. He gave me Dreamwearver 8 by adobe and photoshop and illusrator9. I just started messing around with the dreamweaver and used some of the pre-made templates and just added backgrounds and stuff I found on the web. I had a free site with yahoo and it kept shutting down because of too much band width (I have no idea what that is) and if I were to make changes on that site and view what I changed, no one could view it for like a week. My sis registered my domain name and site for 2 years. I know she is on a budget so it had to have been in-expensive. I think they used Go Daddy. Try looking them up. As far as the web design program, my parents got me Front Page by microsoft for a little over $100. I didn't use it because my sister fiance gave me the other program for free and he uses it.
