I am planning on making a castle cake in the next month or so. I am planning on a 8"x2 round stacked with a 6"x2 round. I am going to use ice cream cones etc for turrets. What size box would this fit in? How do I cover it safely.
I was thinking of tipping an appropriate size plastic container sideways, sliding the cake in and covering it with the lid.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Thank you
For the castle cake that I did, I put it on a heavy plywood board because of the weight of it and for transporting it....so I only loosely covered it with cling wrap until I delivered it, just to keep any floating dust off of it.
It worked just fine for me!
Just make sure you have a good solid base for your cake.! ![]()
Good luck!
I second, third, and fourth the pp about securing those turrets.
I think the next time I make a castle cake the towers will be made of rice krispy treats and skewered as well as glued to the cake. DH didn't want any part in delivering this cake but I couldn't have done it without him b/c someone had to hold the cake to make sure the towers didn't separate from the cake.
Oh, and to answer your original question, I didn't use a box at all. I finished the cake the night before it was to be delivered and just left it on my counter. I also used a plywood board b/c of the weight.
