This doesn't happen everytime, but a few times, the royal icing will take forever to dry on my cookies and then when it does dry it looks all crackled. HELP!! Could it be humidity or something I am doing wrong!!!
Are you thinning it like a glaze? Sounds like maybe you thinned with water. Try thinning with egg white instead and don't get it too wet.
You know I can't remember, but I probably did thin with water. I used meringue powder to make the icing, so I should use reg egg whites to thin?
I think that might help. Using a fan to dry them quicker might also help. Mostly I think you got it too thin.
