I need to make a birhtday cake for a friend. She wants yellow cake with like a pudding filling. ANy suggestions? or has anyone tried this before? I was thinking of making a yellow cake and just using vanilla pudding? Will this taste all right or does anyone have any suggested recipes I should use for the filling? Thanks so much!!

Yes, this will work just fine. I use pudding as a basic filling for most of my cakes. Some people use whipping cream (liquid, not whipped) to make the pudding thicker, personally I just use whole milk. Good luck!

Thanks! I was kinda nervous about doing this but hopefully it works and it tastes good. What kind of pudding do you normally use for a yellow cake? Just wondering.

Thanks

Oh, I've done pudding fillings before. They're not really a problem. I also made sure to make a shallow dam in the bottom layer to keep the pudding from spilling over.

No she said she didn't care what kind. I don't make a lot of yellow cakes so I wasn't sure what went with it. I did make a banana cake last night and put banana cream pudding in it and it was really good. I was surprised. Thanks for everyones help!
