When you use a cake extender with a cake mix, do you add the ingredients listed for the extender plus all the ingredients listed for making the boxed mix?

It depends on the extender. I am making one right now and it said to not use the ingredients on the box. I am still in the process of baking and it is a very thick batter, almost like cookie dough. Tastes awesome though.

No, not for the recipe I use. Which recipe are you using? This is the one I use.

1 cake mix
1 cup flour
1 cup sugar
pinch salt
1 cup sour cream
1 cup melted butter/marg
3 eggs
1/4 cup milk
1/3 cup water
1 tsp vanilla
* for chocolate add 3 Tbsp cocoa powder

If you use the cake mix extender on this site, then you would use your boxed cake mix like normal and then add the extender recipe right to that mix before baking, correct?

This is the one I'm using right now. Is it very thick for you or did I do something wrong??

Yes the batter is quite thick but it makes a nice, moist cake. Is this your first time using it?

Yes this is my first time using this one. The batter tasted really good. I was just worried because it was so thick. Can't wait to eat it. It is for my dh's birthday.

I'm using the one on Cake Central that Julie mentioned. The first
response. In looking again at the recipe, I realize you would want to add the cake mix ingredients as the extender only has one egg.
For those of you who have tried both recipes given, which is the best to use. Thanks to all of you....

Yeah, I'd like to know which was you prefer, too (if you've tried both).

I use the extender recipe found on this site mentioned by Julie. I mix the ingredients as the box says then add the additional ingredients. So it ends up having four eggs. Works great, tastes fabulous! Anna
