Problem Leveling My Cakes

PLEASE HELP!!!! When I have a order for a stacked cake like a wedding. Before and after the cake is iced it looks level. But when I stack the cakes, it is not. I want the customer happy. What am I doing wrong?

could be the table it is on. and I wouldn't go by "looks" level - buy a cheap 6 inch level to make sure as you assemble each layer and as you stack it onsite. it could be your dowels are ever so slightly off.

You can't tyeball these things, really. I too have a small level. I place it on top of the cake in several different directions to make sure all is well. Makes a HUGE difference in the final product when everthing is perfectly square.

crimsicle, if you find with the level that you are slightly off, what do you do about it? Do you cut new dowels, or is there some sort of trick I don't know about?
