Hello!

I have been asked to do a Dale Earnhardt Jr cake and I was thinking about using the 3-D cruiser pan. Does anyone know how many serving we should get from this? They are looking to feed approxx. 15-20 people with some leftovers. Should I also plan on putting the cake on top of 9X13?

Also, if anyone has any tips on how to ice/cover this cake to make it look like a NASCAR I would greatly appreciate it. I had hoped to get the pre-made NASCAR cake kit however time will not allow for that at this time. I would like to try to avoid icing it with stars, those little things just kill my hands!

Thanks everyone!

Most charcter cakes are around on cake mix (or a little more). I've heard most cake mixes will give you 12-15 servings. There are some that say every 1/2 cup of batter is a serving.

Who is the cake for? If it is kids, then they may be able to stretch it since kids don't usually eat a big slice of cake. If you are doing it for teenages then you will want more cake as they are usually big eaters.

If in doubt, and they are willing to pay for it, then do it on the 13x9 and give them extra cake. icon_smile.gif

I used that pan to make a police cruiser. It's in my gallery here. For a nascar, I'd probably slice off an inch from the top of the car to make it lower to the body of the car and maybe slice a bit off the bottom of the cake to make the body narrower before decorating? I'd definitely put it on top of a sheet cake though. Maybe put a cake board under the car and support it up on something so it's more suspended and the tires don't look so flat (that's my forte, flat tires on car cakes icon_smile.gif )
