most traditional (butter and sugar) recipes will crust. Just let it sit for awhile or put it in the fridge to crust it up faster. If you look in the recipe section there are recipes for a crusting buttercream though.

I am assuming you already have a buttercream recipe and you are wanting it to crust better? You can simply add 1 or 2 tablespoons of Meringue Powder to your recipe and this will help a great deal. Powdered Egg Whites works good too. The difference in the two is Powdered egg whites do not contain cream of tarter and the meringue powder does.
Hope this helps.

The first time I used homemade buttercream frosting it turned out real well and that was just last week. I got my recipe by going to the recipe tab at the top and searching for (keyword)buttercream in the frosting category. The recipe that I used was Crusting Buttercream Icing (VIVA Method) It is a simple recipe and easy to use. Hope it works well for you too. thumbs_up.gif

Adding milk instead of water to your buttercream will also make it crust. Think Gingerbread Man Cookies with the crusty buttercream on them -- that's made with milk.
