Okay, I have looked high and low to find a decent source for full size (19x26 or 20x2icon_cool.gif cake boxes so I don't have to jimmy-rig something that really doesn't look professional. A couple of sites I checked (restockit for one) had a great price on boxes, but charged twice that for a 'handling fee'?? Whats up with that?? Of course, here in Fresno, we are a big town with small town availability on services (read that to say nil to none! icon_mad.gif ) and I can't find squat!!! I did see something that made me think I might be able to use a gift box (like for robes, coats....) but with my luck when I go measure it will be short on one side! icon_cry.gif I want a cake store like you guys back east have!! icon_cry.gificon_cry.gif Or at least a good website........ANY suggestions??

If you have a Sam's in your area they will sell you their sheet cake boxes. You have to buy in a case of 50 but boy are they nice! Nice sturdy cardboard bottoms and a window top that slide on. No tabs to bend. I think the bottoms run around $25.00 for 50 and the tops were about $20.00. And no shipping!!!! They sell the 12 inch rounds to that have black plastic bottoms and clear tops. The only problem with them is they are kinda flimsy and not tall enought for some of my cakes.

I agree with the shipping from some of these on line sites!!! OUTRAGEOUS!!!!

I buy my full sheet boards and boxes at Walmart bakery. They only charge me $1 for the board, box, and top.

Thank you ladies, for the ideas. Yes, I think we have a Sam's Club here (that is the Sam's right?) altho' I've never been there. As for Walmart....not my favorite place to go but I don't think we have one with a bakery....Doesn't it have to be a 'super' walmart or something? I will have to check to see if we have one with the food/grocery section. detective.gif

southernbelle, Yeah, I like the idea of no shipping or 'handling' charges also!! Thank you again girls!! thumbs_up.gif

I just called my local Krogers for a box, and she priced it to me for $4.00. Thats crazy, I could go to Sams and get a whole lot more for a little more. Think I'll be making a trip. Thanks for the headsup.

I guess it depends on which Walmart you ask and who works there because the Walmart I go to will not sell me any cake boxes from the bakery, but the Food Lion down the road will.
