Please Help! Doughy Tasting Cake.
Decorating By soccermom17 Updated 8 Mar 2007 , 11:57pm by soccermom17
Ok, I have a cake due tomorrow morning. I made a new recipe for a lemon cake, and doubled the recipe. I can taste the lemon a little on the outside, but can taste the doughy/floury taste inside a little bit. (I made some cupcakes with the leftover batter.) Any suggestions or simple syrup recipes I can use to help the taste. i really don't want to deliver it as it. Oh, I'm also frosting with buttercream. Please help me!!
Thanks in advance.

Sorry I have no idea, but here's a bump, someone here will know! ![]()
You can make lemon curd and use that as a filling, it would definitively bump up the lemon flavour. You can also add some lemon juice or lemon extract to your buttercream to flavour that too. Do not worry, you have plenty of opportunities to make the cake more lemony.
maybe I should surprise her with a filling. its for a gal I bowl with.
The cake is fully cooked, just bland. And I LOVE lemon cake, etc. So it does need a boost of something.
Can I make a simple syrup out of sugar, water and lemon juice? then let that soak into the cake?
PLEASE HELP! I NEED TO GET THIS FROSTED SOON!
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE!
ANY ADVICE ON THE SIMPLE SYRUP???

thanks. that's exactly what I did. I tested some on the cupcakes I made and it tasted really good. I'm just about done decorating it. Just needed a break!
thanks again,
Michelle
Ok, I took the cake to bowling yesterday, and I have people say, this is the BEST cake! And even today i saw a friend from bowling and she raved to a new customer (her boss) how great that cake was. I can't believe it! I tried a piece and I didn't care for it! But it's what the consumer thinks and the birthday girl liked it too! WHEW!!!
