Jeanett,

I am going to do the Sugar Easter Eggs. I got the molds 3 for 5 bucks.
And then I was at the dollar store and they had the big plastic egg that you make a basket from. I think I am going to try and make a big one out of this. What do you think?

the sugar eggs are molded sugar with the scene inside. we just had a demo at Shirley and I's cake club meeting last thursday.. The person who did the demo did show us a really big one so I'm sure it can be done.

Very good directions for sugarmolds here, she mentions baking for 10 - 20 minutes:

I Have made Sugar Eggs before. I added meringue powder to the sugar mixture and they set quicker than without it.

Sugar eggs are fun to do.

I'm making sugar eggs right now. I use the 4 cups sugar, 3 tbsp meringue powder and 3 tbsp. water, if you are going to color the sugar, dip the dye in the water, THEN add to the sugar/meringue mix.
I molded them then placed them on a cardboard flat, that I then put on a cookie sheet and baked them at 200 degrees for 20 minutes, then scooped them out. Don't forget! If you are putting a peep hole on the end, to slice the narrow end of the egg, but don't remove it until you are finished baking.
I just finished all the royal icing flowers, bunnies, ducks and chicks last night. So all I have to do now is just attach everything.
Will post pics soon!
