I have a 2-tier heart wedding cake for this Saturday. 6 and 8 inch round. She just wants something simple and just told me to do something nice. She wants it accented with silver. I figured I would put silver ribbon around the bottom and paint some roses with silver luster dust. Should I just leave the cake plain with roses and ribbon or add a basic design? I just need some ideas.
Thanks
I would probably stick with minimal silver accents... if you do ribbon, then I would do swiss dots (in white) or scrolls (in white) with no roses. Or maybe you can do scrolls, a pearl border, and accent with silver dragees? I say that because silver is very eye catching, and if you have too much, the cake may look over done instead of simple.
Sotas are when you just go curl crazy with the same tip you'd use for cornelli lace rather than being careful that they don't touch. It's an interesting technique.
Here's a link to Wilton's website on Sotas:

Here's a couple of cakes that have the sotas techniques on them:

I like the idea of silver scrolls with a silver ribbon, maybe just a 1 inch silver ribbon or maybe even a 3/4 inch or 1/2 inch. Something thin and the scolls. That would be really pretty.
