morning! There is an awesome Crusting Cream Cheese Frosting in the Recipes box. I use it all the time and it's my most requested icing. Perfect because you can actually use it for borders, roses, etc.

I use the same one. It is in the recipes and was submitted by edencakes. I get more requests for that icing than any other I make.

For the church Halloween Hay Ride, I was going to do the Wilton Jack-o-Lantern pan cake... Could this icing be tinted orange, and used with the triple star tip?

Thanks! icon_smile.gif

I've never attempted a FBCT, but I love this CC frosting.

For flavoring, I use a mix of vanilla & vanilla butternut. I also use a tablespoon or so less butter than the stick that the recipe below calls for (more like 1/3 cup) so that it's extra thick, but that's a matter of taste.

16 oz. cream cheese
1 stick butter, slightly softened
2 tsp. vanilla
2# powdered sugar

Beat cc, butter and flavoring on medium until well blended. Add sugar and beat until smooth. Chill.

SweetObsession,
Your recipe crusts and you can decorate with it too?
Thanks,
Susie

Here is the recipe that I love the best:http://www.cakecentral.com/cake_recipes_id-add_box-4153.html
I used it to make pumpkins out of cupcakes last week for work. It took the color nicely and piped very well. It also crusted nicely.

I use the crusting cc recipe or the decorator's cc recipe on this site. I've always used canned cc frosting before and was nervous about making it from scratch. Well, I did it for a cake for the first time a few weeks ago and it's been the ONLY icing request since....and it was soooo easy and tasted so much better than that canned junk!! I like to add extra cc b/c I like the "tangy" taste, but that's just me. It's also really easy to decorate with. Good luck!
