i need ideas on what and how to make a 1950's themed cake for my grandparents renewing their vouls. please any ideas will help and get things rollin i have a while but will need to practice so anything will be great.

I do not know how much experience you have, but personally, if I were asked to do a cake like this, I would do a soda shop cake. There would be a juke box, a counter with stools, soda taps, and a big mirror on the wall behind the counter. On the walls would be little pictures, made of edible images, of 1950's stars, like Elvis, Pat Boone, Rosemary Clooney, etc. The floor would be the cake, a sheet cake, with a black and white checkerboard floor.

If you go into the doll house section of a craft store, you should be able to find little banana splits, sodas, burgers, etc, to decorate the counter with.

An alternative idea would be to incorporate poodle skirts and 57 Chevy Belairs.
