How Would You Make Stand-Up Bunny Ears.

How big do they need to be? What about marshmallows? I used them on cupcakes topped with bunnies. ![]()
Gumpaste or fondant with some Tylose. You can roll fairly thin and cut out with a pattern, but leave a point at both ends so you have something to stick into the cake for support. As the gumpaste just begins to set, bend the tops of the ears over a bit towards the front. Then let dry completely. Dust the inside of the ears with a light pink petal dust. After the cake is iced, make a small slit on each side of the head and stick the ears in place.
I would make them out of fondant with some gumtex or gumpaste. Insert small dowels or popsicle sticks into them while they dry so you just stick them into your bunny head. I tried sticking the dowels in after my creation set a bit and it turned crumbly. Another time I made the thing then attached the popsicle sticks with watered down fondant (so it was like peanut butter) and then put a thin piece of fondant over it, but the back looked tacky and I like people to be able to look all around... Good luck!
I guess close to bunny size. Thanks so much all of you. I tried pushing cookie ears iced and coated in coconut last year and they just fell down and crumbled the cake.... I think the fondant and dowels are great ideas! Like the little cupcake bunnies with marshmallows. I'll keep that in mind... I saw where someone on here did a basketweave on cupcakes and turned them into baskets... with a little bunny would be so cute.
I never thought of doweling them... If I use straws I can just put the popsicle sticks into them right? And fondant would hopefully be lighter than sugar cookie....
