Do you know if Publix actually bakes their cakes in the store or if they come in frozen? I used to LOVE Publix cake but the last few I have had tasted stale. I did notice that you said *fresh* Publix cakes, though! Just wondering if they made them fresh anymore.
Here's the recipe I use and find that it tastes a lot like Publix vanilla cake. I wish I knew who to give credit to, but I can't remember where I found it.
1 box vanilla cake mix
1 box vanilla instant pudding
8 oz vanilla yogurt
1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup water or milk
4 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
Bake at 325.
Thank you for the recipe. I believe they did bake them there at one time but now they have them shipped in frozen. I was told that sometimes they can get a quick turnaround on the cakes, so the ones that were most recently baked always taste the best. I have had a couple that were very stale. Something about their cake has a great flavor. It is not too sweet and not too overpowering with the vanilla. I have tried and experimented with alot of recipes and even made up some of my own, but they are never good enough to me. Other people love them but I never really like anything I make. I am my worst critic and a perfectionist. Thanks again for the recipe.
What size cake would this recipe make? While we're on the subject of Publix, does anyone have their Buttercream Icing Recipe?
