How many have you gotten this e-mail? It's very weird and I'm sure a hoax. I think I remember seeing a thread about it a couple of months ago.

Hello ,
I will like to make a 3 Tier cake which would serve 80 as a desert or
150 as a taster, for my upcoming wedding party.. this 3 Tier cake must be in Rich Chocolate Cake with Chocolate buttercream filling, covered in belgian chocolate curls.. the wedding will come up on the 20th of April 2007
I will want to be assure of your professionalism in handling this job
to its best cos this is the important part of the party as you know...
However, i will want to know the cost price for the above describe cake and other necessary things if any...
My wedding planner will come over to pick up the cake at your location.
Hope to hear from you soonest..
Regard,
Lisa Hamre

Does anyone else find this to be weird?

Michele

These are emails from con artists (usually based overseas) who want to make a buck (or very many)at your expense. If you receive anything like this just ignore it. Usually they are unable to give you a telephone contact number because they've temporarily lost their hearing! Once you have seen several of these you will recognise the format, the phrasing, and the con. You may well be asked for your bank account details so they can place a large deposit into your account. Do not do this under any circumstances unless you wish to be rooked.

Same Old, Same Old. Apparantly that same email hoax is going to every cake decorator who has a website. I hope everyone is smart enough to not fall for it.

I told her that I would not make her cake and that I did not make "tasters" of the size she wanted, nor do I let others pick up tiered cakes. I especially do not do them free.

I also told her that the tone of her e-mail was poor and she should not expect anyone to take her demands seriously.

I knew it was a hoax, I just thought it was a weird one.

other than asking about a cake, the writer of the email didn't ask for money, so I don't get the con. The email is weird, to be sure, but what's even more weird is that they weren't really outright about getting money. Maybe that comes in the next email they send you. People are strange.
