How Do I Attach Photos To The Top Of A Cake?

Hi all...I am making a sheet cake for a customer this weekend. She is insisting that I put photos on the top of the cake but does not want edible images. She wants the actual photos (or copies) on the cake. I'm sure that I can't put the photos right on the cake so what would you reccomend that I do with them to protect them and the cake??? Thank you in advance for all of your help!
For my son's cake, I covered the picture (front and back) with contact paper, taped the covered picture on top of a square of waxed paper slightly larger than the picture (1/4" margins), layed the picture on the cake, and piped a small, tight zigzag border around the edge. For serving, I removed the pictures with the zigzag borders before cutting. I didn't post the picture because I wasn't sure about posting something with my son's face. He had chosen pictures of his early childhood to go on his cake.
somethng else you might try is placing sugar cubes, some shredded cocoanut or mini marshmallows behind the picture so the icing does not come up when you take the picture off. Also i would scan the pict and use a copy just in case some of the grease from the icing comes in contact with the picture, even with contact paper, I would hate to see and original ruined.
