I'm new to this fondant I've made the MMF and used it for small things but mine tends to be a little mushy when I try to do the tappits with it , doesn't work. I hate the Wilton fondant taste but it works better. My problem is I have to do a baby onsie cake for Sat, and I needed to know when I should try to make the onesie. Can I practice and get a good one and then let it harden before placing it on the cake or should I do it the same day? Thanks in advance to all of you that's been where I am. icon_surprised.gif

I made mine in advance and let it harden while it was draped over the back of a cake pan (to get the sleeve hanging over the final cake). I also used the Wilton fondant and peeled it off and threw it away before cutting the cake, because of the taste. If I would have known about MMF then I would have used it instead so that my hard work didn't end up in the trash.

Thanks deester oh by the way like the name........... icon_lol.gif Another thing I was just wondering about was how did you cut it out? How do you mark the pattern on it ? I'm totally ignorant to this. Thanks again.

I actually went and got one of my son's onesies and just sorta laid it on top of the rolled out fondant and cut it out. I did have to shorten the length of the onesie by folding it a little, otherwise it would have been way to long to fit on the cake (I had my cake pan handy for sizing up the onesie). Flip up the bottom, then just cut strips of fondant for the accents (neck line, leg holes etc). The spots are food coloring dotted on with a pencil eraser. The writing is with a water color marker (it wasn't eaten) and the snaps are indentations made with the marker's lid and then traced with the marker. The heart is BC.

It wasn't a hard thing to do. This was only my second time ever touching fondant and it turned out great (IMHO icon_redface.gif )

BTW - love your name also thumbs_up.gif !!
