I wanted to make a cake for Valentines day and decided to try to maybe make a heart shape cake and make it look like those Sweet Hearts that kids give each other , the ones that have messages, like be mine, etc. I was thinking of making a frosting of like a pastel pink or purple, but I wasn't sure how to make it have that soft writing. A stencil? Any ideas?

Thanks!

I would try a stencil and the sprays, from wilton or betty crocker. maybe try it out on a paper towel or something first, but I think if you use a light spray it could give you the look you want!

I have never used the sprays..are they hard to work with? Do they work on Fondant?

the sprays are really easy to work with if you look in my photos i used the red spray on the tips of my turkey cake feathers. i was so surprised on how they worked and easy they were to use i first practiced a little on a papertowel. good luck.

You could also use stamps painted with food coloring
you could paint on the fondant also.
Or use the food writers.

That's all I can come up with now.

You could also take the fondant and make different shades of pink and red...and cut little hearts out putting the opposite smaller color heart in the middle with a little pearl in the middle of that one...or tiny fondant cutout flowers with pearls in the center...
