I, myself, haven't tried them on fondant yet but, I remembered seeing this cake by kitagrl. It's too cute. It's a 3D carved eeyore cake covered in fondant and the lines were done with a food pen.

they don't run or fade ... my only complaint is that they don't go on sharp or bright ...it's hard to describe
I would try a piece to see if you like it ... but you should have plan b in effect just in case you are not pleased with the results
I've used them on fondant and as long as the fondant is fairly dry, they go on easily but like sofiasmami said, the tips aren't very sharp (fat) and the colors don't go on as opaque as I'd like them too.
I've used a couple sets that work much better, one from Kopykake and the others were Food Doodlers from Hobby Lobby. The tips on those sets are finer and the color comes out better. Of the two, the ones from Kopykake had the finest tip (on one end) and worked the best. There's another brand I haven't tried called Gourmet Writers that are also supposed to work well.

I have them.....you may need to go over what you are doing a couple of times. I used them to make the tags for the Tiffany cakes I make. I am not sure if you can see the name tag on the one I have in my pics or not. Make sure to store them tip end down that seems to help make them easier to write with. The dryer the fondant is the easier it is too. Good luck on the cake tonight!
I prefer the Foodoodlers to Wilton but that probably doesn't help you on short notice.
In your shoes, I would probably outline the designs on the cards with the food markers and then fill it in by painting with gel/paste color thinned with lemon extract using a fine natural hair paint brush.
Just my .02

I love them.. I just wished they came in different style points I think it's to round and thick for any fancy writing.. or do they?
