Help!!! With Pirate Ship

To anyone who has made a pirate ship. What pans did you use to creat the shape? Please help me out this is my first 3D cake and I'm worried it'll fall apart (By the way any tips on preventing that would be great).

Hi. The instructions I used are on www.familyfun.com. I used 2 9-inch round layers, sliced off on the bottom so they would stand. icon_smile.gif

i think thats the easiest way.. you can also carve sheet cakes to make a fancier pirate ship..

I personally find that for large 3-D cakes, you're better off using a pound cake verses a soft spongy cake...they tend to stand up better!!

I used an 11x13 pan made 2 cakes and a square glass pan. I cut the square one in half and rounded the 2 11x13 cakes. I ran out of time for the railing around the cake so it isn't very good.
